The Broomfield Park bowling green is let to Southgate Bowling Club, which always welcomes new members! The green and the Club’s own clubhouse are located at the Alderman’s Hill side of the park, just by the model boating lake.

Have you thought of trying bowls? It is a healthy and fun form of gentle exercise, for gents and ladies (of all ages) alike, played in a friendly atmosphere. If you want, it can also be an extremely competitive sport; the world’s top players tend to be in their late 20s to early 40s, and they generally started playing during their teens, so it’s never too early (or too late!) to start playing.

The bowling green is one of the best in the area, and is open (weather permitting!) every day from mid-April to the end of September.

The Club caters for all skill levels, from total beginners to experienced county players, so your bowling can be as “social”, or as competitive (in internal leagues and competitions, and numerous matches against other clubs), as you like. Members also enjoy some lively social activities throughout the year – lunches, dinners, quizzes, bowling holidays, and even fancy dress bowls matches – and raise funds for various charities.

For a warm welcome, and details of YOUR chance to try bowls and be coached for FREE at the Club’s open days please contact:
