A Green Jewel

Broomfield Park is a green jewel in the centre of Palmers Green.

It provides many opportunities for stimulating and enjoyable learning about nature and wildlife.

Broomfield Park inspires learning

The Friends of Broomfield Park have developed a diverse programme of educational activities and resources for the whole community, especially focussing on young people between the ages of 5 and 25.  Our programme is based on experiential learning using the range of habitats available within Broomfield Park. We help young people to understand how caring for our environment can redress the adverse effects of climate change as well as broadening their expeience of the natural world.

We currently offer programmes to local primary, secondary and special schools.

We provide primary schools with a wide range of safe, secure and fun learning experiences for all ages. Led by our experieced volunteer team, you and your children will get to explore the park and learn all about the environments, wildlife and heritage.

During the past two years we have welcomed a REACH group (Enfield Secondary Behaviour Support Service) to the park on a termly basis. This programme has been designed to support excluded Yr. 9 pupils back into mainstream education, using park activities which rely on responsibility and teamwork.

In the summer months, we have had the pleasure of encouraging young adults with severe physical and learning disabilities from the Enfield MENCAP centre, to participate in the maintenance of the Community Orchard.

We are developing strong links with West Lea School; a borough SEND school and we had the privilege in supporting the ‘Greenery” (the community café) with the BUILD UP project. This was a scheme designed to engage young people working alongside professionals, to devise and deliver a financed plan within the park.

We have a regular, active group of young people working towards a broad range of projects for the Duke of Edinburgh award.

We are now booking for future visits.
